I have a new Corgi puppy that just started shedding like crazy (known shedders and non-hypoallergenic). I’ve never had a dog before. Around the same time this started, my first incident was, one night while I was sleeping, my eye started spazzing out as if something had got stuck in it. I rinsed my eye and never found anything and dealt with the pain for a few hours and everything basically went back to normal. Over the last few months, I’ve had a few of these incidents, sometimes while sleeping, sometimes upon waking up in the morning. I’ve been trying to self-treat myself with eye drops and eye ointment at night but I have not seen a doctor.
Like I said, I’ve never had a dog before so I don’t actually know whether or not I’m allergic. But the question is, do I have an allergy that is causing such severely dry eyes which is leading to my eyelid sticking to my cornea overnight and causing these abrasions/erosions?
It’s confusing because even with my eye drops and ointment, I still wake up with dry eyes and these erosions have been so random. My eyes usually don’t need as much lubrication when I am outside of the house, but for some reason, my eyes get itchier/drier when I’m home, particularly at night for some reason – when I’m sitting still watching a movie, relaxing, whatever it is.
Edit: This has only occurred in my right eye. No abrasions/erosions yet in my left eye, however, I deal with the dryness and itchiness.
