I am 32, and have been wearing glasses since I was about 6. My newest glasses prescription includes correction for astigmatism, which I’ve never had before. It’s very slight, .75 L, .25 R. From everything I’ve read, it seems that this is not a drastic change and may even be unnoticeable. However, after wearing my new glasses for about a week, my vision is swimming, like I’m having motion sickness constantly along with migraine and nausea. I also still don’t have clear vision, despite an increase in sphere (-4, -4.25 to -4.5, -5).
Is it possible that I’m just not going to adjust to these lenses and should ask for an RX without the astigmatism correction? I can’t wear them all the time, because it feels dangerous to drive and I get nauseous and migraines while wearing them. I’m trying to give the glasses a fair shake, but it’s really affecting my life constantly walking around with awful vision.
Reaching out to the hive because I am an American expat living in Germany, and there is a bit of a language barrier with the optometrist. This will also be my third remake, because the original optician decided I didn’t need an increase in RX despite having nearly failed the driving vision exam.
Do I need to keep pushing through with these lenses or is it ok to throw in the towel and ask for something more comfortable?
