So, I’m writing this as a glasses end consumer (I guess you could put it that way), so I apologize if the way I describe things is not 100% accurate.
I’m trying to find out what options are out there for digitally measuring one’s optical center. My long-time eye doctor’s shop has been using an iPad app – with a special camera and measuring thingy that goes over one’s glasses – that takes bang-on measurements every single time. Quite frankly, it’s been a game-changer for me, as the lenses always feel naturally on-center with every order, without the tilting of the head up and down, chasing the optical center. Whereas by hand, one can only measure to whole millimeters and is subject to a lot of variation, their iPad system measures down to tenths of a millimeter.
Anyway, while I’m trying to find out from my eye doctor what their system is, I know that there have to be other apps and digital wares out there for doing this sort of thing, but haven’t (yet) been able to turn much of anything up. I’m curious if any of you all may know of any digital OC measurement apps/systems?
