I saw an argument on Instagram today where one person said playing too much video games is bad for children, someone else said it's beneficial because it helps improve their coordination. Then a 3rd person replied to that saying gaming has it's advantages but a child should be allowed a restricted amount of time of playing video games so they don't end up with myopia, often even before their adolescence. While myopia is obviously not guaranteed, I do mostly agree with that. The owner of the account said they were ''wasting their time by anomymously whining on Instagram'', and considering the likes on that reply, pretty much everyone agreed with that.
Conclusion: nobody cares about trying to prevent bad eyesight.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a teenager and besides school and my job main pastime is playing video games, but I do believe my own myopia has gotten and is getting worse because of this. Everyone's probably heard their parents say a TV causes 'square eyes', but strangely I'm starting to agree to the history behind that phrase more and more.
Why don't people put more effort into trying to prevent myopia, or any other visual condition?
