I posted on another reddit and didn't get much feedback, thought I'd try here, seems like everyone is friendly and informative.
I've been having problems getting an eyeglass prescription that works for me. I'm 34 years old, started wearing glasses at 22, and have been a heavy computer user since I was a kid. I remember around age 12, I started seeing double vision on bright colored signs in a distance at night. Other than that, I could read everything else perfectly. After I got about 20 or 21, my vision started getting blurry when trying to read speed limit signs and such driving down the road. I remember having to get up real close to them to read them. I also remember not being able to make out faces in a distance when I was shopping in a store and out around people.
I ended up going in for glasses / contacts at age 22 and my prescription was -1.25 in each eye, no astigmatism. That prescription made me see everything at a distance clearly, but everything blurry up close. I would always take my glasses or contacts off to use the computer or read up close, as at that time, I could read everything without glasses at about arms length and all the way up close to my eyes.
My prescription has got worse and worse over the years. The latest one I was given was -4.50 in each eye, with 0.25 cylinder (written by an ophthalmologist, so I think it may really be -0.25) in each eye as well. I can see everything clearly at a distance with it, but can't even read the instrument panel or radio in the car or anything closer than that, it's all blurry until about 3 – 4 feet away?
I've also always used older glasses (weaker minus prescription) to use the computer, as every time I was given a new prescription, things up close were blurry with them, however this time it's much worse.
Does this sound like a typical myopia case? I've been to three eye doctors since October and they all tell me my eyes are perfectly healthy. None of them can get a prescription that works well / is comfortable for me though.
