Is my poor eyesight genetics?
I got my first ever pair of glasses almost 2 months ago with a prescription of -3.00 and -2.75, which i know is quite strong, but i somehow never realized how bad my vision was. I’ve gotten completely used to them and i wear them 24/7 exept for when i sleep and shower, and i love how they look on me and love how i see with them even more, so they’ve really become a huge part of my life in no time. Even though i love them, it’s still quite overwhelming for me to get used to the thought of me being a girl who have poor eyesight, as i always thought i had perfect vision. And even thought my sister and parents wear reading glasses, i am the only one with bad vision to the degree that i can’t live without glasses. I’m wondering if this is genetics (even though my parents never had vision problems) or if i’ve sat infront of a computer too much. I don’t sit at a computer more than the avarage person of my age, but do you think it has something to do with my poor vision? Or could it be something totally different? It’s just a bit weird for me, cause when i look at posts on this subreddit of peoples first glasses, they’re usually much weaker on prescritpion than my first glasses. Why do you think that is? Is my experience of getting my first glasses very unusual?
Sorry for all the stupid question, but this whole experience of getting glasses so suddently is just a bit weird for me, as i never expected it to happen to me.
