I've seen a lot of posts about contact lenses here but none of them really helped me. I got trial contact lenses 2 days ago and the first time I wore them was when I got them (my optometrist put them in). That first time was one hell of an experience for me because no matter what I did, I couldn’t stop blinking. The doctor was trying to force my eyes open and 40 minutes later managed to put both contacts in. They felt great, I could see perfectly, all was fine and dandy. They told me to practice putting them in myself so I could get used to them and very briefly explained how to do it.
Yesterday I attempted to put them in. I got the right one in by sheer accident because somehow my excessive blinking made it go in. My eyes started watering and I panicked because it was so sudden but eventually I calmed down and I could see great with that eye. The left eye however, didn’t go so easily. Having spent about half an hour on just the right eye, I felt like I was losing my mind. After another hour of trying to get the left one in, I quit out of frustration. Taking out the right lens was nowhere near as hard as putting it in was because I knew that I had to get it out.
I’ve watched about 30 tutorials on how to put the lenses in and have already established that the two hand method isn’t for me since my eyes are way too small for that and pulling on them like that just makes me blink harder. I still don’t know what I’m doing wrong with the other method (where you pull just the bottom lid down, tuck your chin into your chest and look up so you put the lens on the white part of your eye). I managed to put the lens on my eye but it would just curl in on itself and then fall off my finger.
Nobody that I know wears contacts and as much as my mum tried to help me, she had no idea how to do so. Today I’m going to buy some eye drops and try to put the lenses in after those as my eyes still feel dry after over 13 hours since my first attempt, but I still have no idea how to “correct” my technique so the lens actually sticks to my eye and doesn’t move off my finger as I’m trying to put it in
