I first got glasses when I was around 11 at -2 and -3 dpt (I didn't really notice the myopia before also it seemed to progress quite quickly at that time). Everyone around me said it would likely worsen throughout puberty and growth spurts, but I had my eyes controlled regularly and nothing happened or changed at all, and I went into my early 20s with quite a satisfied confidence about my eyes not getting worse. Now over the past 2 years or so, starting at 22/23 they did get worse again. Now at -3.5 and -4.25. Even with pandemic screentime I didn't expect a difference above 1 dpt. The doctor wasn't worried at all and when I mentioned that I thought myopia usually doesn't get worse after 20 he said it's 25 not 20 and he says even with that progression (he's the same doctor I always went to starting with my first myopia diagnosis) he doesn't really expect my eyes to get worse again with me now turning 25. Online I can't find a single mention of the 25 age though, every single website says 18 – 20, and every person with childhood myopia I found who had eyes getting worse after 20 had them progressively get worse throughout their teenage years, not suddenly have it kick off again after 20. I'm getting kind of paranoid now… Anyone heard of such a progression? Can this really just be the pandemic screentime? What's the prognosis now, is my doctor right with thinking further worsening after 25 is “unlikely”? I'm kind of getting quite anxious, I'm really scared of vision loss.
