I'm 16 years old turning 17 in a few months. I recently got my eyesight checked again and it was -7 (right eye) and -6.25 (left eye). The doctor advised me to not lift weights especially not heavy weights as that can cause a retinal detatchment. I have heard this for the first time in my life and now I'm very sad if you want me to be honest. So can I lift weights and can I lift heavy weights if I am at a level where I can comfortably lift them. I'm talking about heavy deadlifts, squats, bench press etc. What should I be aware of and what precautions should I take?
Note: I've never had any problems in my eye like spots or blindless etc ever in my life and the doctor briefly checked my retina while checkin me for my eyesight and she said that the retina is in good condition. Also my myopia is hereditary as my parents and my brother has it.
