I'm 21 and I'm currently -9 and -9.25 in each eye. Started needing glasses at 9. Naturally, I'm super worried about my eyes.
I get a yearly eye test along with an OCT scan and 2021 was the first year my prescription had no change so I can't tell if this is me stabilising or if this is just a one off. My OCT scan also came back fine. I just have dry eyes due to excessive screen use which I'm reducing.
I have a lot of anxiety over this to the point I get panic attacks. I'm scared that my eyesight may not stabilise and will worsen, I'm scared of developing so many conditions. I read about horrible things like macular degeneration and progressive myopia.
My nearsightedness is not a genetic thing so I have no older family members to compare myself and see what potentially may or may not happen to me so I wanted to ask folk on here.
Those of you who, like me, became severely myopic at a young age, how has your eyesight and eye health been over the years? Did it ever stablise and when did it? Did you develop any conditions? I'd love to hear from anyone in their 30s onwards, especially those in the 50s region.
Thank you
